At a Glance
Overview: The students create their own personal GPS with directions from their house to school. They use Google Maps to get the directions. Create a GPS narration including cardinal directions (North South East and West). They use Microsoft Office Mix to screen capture their map and add their narration.
Here is an example of the project (a Lazy GPS). I used directions from one of my favorite restaurants to school because I didn't want to include any personal information on the Internet. NOTE: The sound quality on this example is not good because I created it while doing the screen casting of the lesson plan. The two recording features conflicted. |
Grade Level: 4+
Time Required: 2+ computer class periods plus class time
Curriculum Connection: This lesson is done in conjunction with the Fourth Grade Geography curriculum where the students are learning map skills.
