Here are some online resources for the fourth grade research project on Famous Explorers.
Fact Monster
Fact Monster is a great children's encyclopedia. You should enter the name of your explorer into the Fact Monster search bar and click "Go". You will see a list of results. "Biographies" is a great place to start. It will give you a short summary on your explorer. "Kids Encyclopedia" and "Encyclopedia" will provide additional information.

bio. True Story
bio. True Story is part of A&E networks. You should enter the name of your explorer into the bio search bar and click on the video icon (if it is available); otherwise click on the explorers name in the search bar. There is a "quick facts" information on each explorer, as well as a synopsis of his life. Many also include a video of the explorer.

Some of the "bio. True Stories" did not include videos. Below you will find videos or podcasts for those explorers.

Rene Robert Cavelier de La Salle
This is not your typical western drama -- it is a series that will transport you back in time to the days of the wild, unsettled west. Retrace the steps of heroes who, despite the odds, fought and conquered the West. Frontier Fighters was a syndicated series that ran sometime during the 1930s. Each show dealt with some bit of history about the early West and ran for approximately 15 minutes. From Robert La Salle's navigation of the Mississippi River, to Lewis and Clark's challenge of reaching the West Coast of North America, Frontier Fighters will take you on an exciting voyage of the taming of the Wild West. This is American History at its best! Click here to access other Frontier Fighter episodes. Click below to hear the episode on Rene Robert Cavelier de La Salle:
