Ocelots are nocturnal and hunt at night. They like to sleep hidden in thick vegetation on the ground, but may climb trees during the day to rest. Because ocelots can swim well, they will often hunt for fish. They sometimes will climb trees and hunt birds. Their main prey are small rodents, opossums, and iguanas.
They can be up to 4 feet long. The ocelot’s sand brown-colored coat is covered in a mixture of black spots and small rosettes. It has special marks around the mouth and eyes. Its tail is covered in dark spots. Source: Rainforest Alliance
