Harpy Eagle

Harpy eagles can be found from Mexico to northern Argentina. They can live up to 35 years. They are 35" to 41" long with a wingspan of up to 6 1/2 feet across. The female is almost twice the size of the male. The eagle's legs can be as thick as a child's wrist and talons are 5" long - larger than a grizzly bears claws. They can fly up to 50 miles per hour. They have excellent eye sight. They use their talons, strength, speed and excellent vision to catch prey such as monkeys and sloths that can weight up to 17 pounds.
